- DgRs-14, Whalen: This site contains two components. The lower one, Whalen I, is assigned to the Locarno Beach phase. The upper level, Whalen II, contrasts sharply with Whalen I and seems more directly ancestral to recent Coast Salish culture. Thom argues that it is a variant of the Marpole phase. Borden's excavation at this site was south of the international border (DfRs-3). Hammon's excavation, north of the international border (DgRs-14), encountered Marpole phase materials.
