Context
Charcoal from Feature 5, the largest feature excavated on the site, consisting of a circular concentration of burned rock and sediment. Basin shaped and partially lined with SS slabs. Found 8 cm bmgs. Meas 175 x 150 cm in dia., 31 ccm deep. Filled with 1,000+ burned rocks, including cobbles and SS slabs, along with charcoal chunks. The rocks weighed a total of 213.8 kg. Three pieces of debitage in fill. Numerous charcoal pieces and a large volume of burned sediment also present. The SS slabs were burned and there were oxidized red to yellow areas along the wall. Pinyon and juniper identified in the fill. Considered to be from the Development period.
