Context
Feature 20, a feature in the large excavation block; only 1/2 was excavated. Meas. 36 x (probably) 24 cm in dia., ca. 2 cm thick. Lay directly on the occupation surface at the top of Stratum 2 at a depth of 6 cm bmgs. Fill was dark gray-brown silt with abundant charcoal flecking. A small concentration of faunal remains (n = 28) was present at the SE end of the feature. No FCR or oxidation; only 1 tiny piece of debitage from flotation. Interpreted as a possible single use, unprepared hearth. Alternatively because of its proximity between Features 23 and 25, it may represent a cleaning episide for the Feature 25 hearth. Date is modern and has been given a credibility level of None.
