Context
Feature 68, encountered in Alpine's main excavation block at a depth of 350 cm bd; only 1/2 excavated because it continued into the block wall. Meas. 48 (incomplete) x 60 cm in dia., 13 cm deep. Probably meas. ca. 70 x 60 cm. Fill was very dark gray loamy sand. Fill contained large pieces of charcoal, a few small pieces of FCR; no artifacts or faunal remains. Interpreted as a roasting pit. [NOTE: could it be a natural swale filled with remains of a natural, not cultural fire?]
