- Feature 4 pit, first seen in the trench side wall as a dark horizontal charcoal stain with a thin oxidized soil line extending upward. The pit had been cut by the overlying Fea 1 pit and an unkn amt of the feature was removed by the pipline trench. It is extrapolated to have meas. 40 x 50 cm in dia., 32-35 cm deep. Two firing episodes in the pit are posited, as indicated by the 2 layers of oxidized soil in the bottom. The layers were 18 cm apart, and dense and and charcoal rested on top of each layers. Pollen revealed a high incidence of Zea mays.
