Comments
CbGw-1, Frank Bay: Ridley's excavation of this stratified site revealed a long sequence of Archaic and Woodland components and produced one date with the then-new radiocarbon method. It was a campsite during both the Pickering (Williamson, 1990: 296) and Middleport (Dodd, et al. 1990: 345) stages of the Ontario Iroquois tradition. Six dates from this site resulted from 1978 excavations by M. Brizinski. S-1684 is thought possibly to date a poorly defined Laurel stratum. The other five dates pertain to dog burials interpreted as ritual sacrifices.
