- Comments
- PbJr-VP: An isolated periotic bone was collected from the surface of sandy beach gravel, slightly embedded. The bone was on the seaward edge of a raised beach, 15 metres laterally from the beach crest and 3 metres vertically below the beach crest. Other bones (vertebrae, maxilla fragments, etc.) are scattered along a 300 metre stretch of this beach level. The first age determination on the otic capsule was 5560 +/- 680 BP (S-3516), the large standard error resulting from the small amount of benzine left for counting after a problem with the catalyst. A second sample (S-3568) was submitted in an attempt to achieve a smaller error.
