Comments
FjUb-10, Cohoe Creek: This shell midden represents the late Moresby Tradition and was occupied for the purpose of harvesting shellfish and other intertidal resources during the late winter between 5000 and 6000 BP. Ham reports mammal, bird and fish bones collected from the surface, not reliably associated with the dates. Subsequent work reported by Fedje and Christensen distinguishes several midden deposits, and it is not clear how these relate to Ham's column samples. Fifteen pairs of marine shell and charcoal samples contribute to a revision of the local marine carbon reservoir effect, -600 years for this area and time range.
