- Context
- Found on a hillside at the valley edge eroding from a small, ephemeral drainage. Nothing is known about the geological contex. No other faunal remains were noted in the area, but the site has not been visited by a professional geologist or paleontologist as of 12/12/2006.
- Comments
- The sample is mammoth ivory, catalog number GAAR 15082. Isotope data was also obtained. Samples of mammoth ivory were obtained in 2006 by J. Rasic from a tusk collected near Anaktuvuk Pass by Mickey Paneak. The tusk remains in Paneak's possession. Only the samples were cataloged in GAAR collections. Three samples were taken with a dremel tool and consist of two chunks and one bag of cutting debris. Split sample was also dated (see Beta-226405).
