- The sample was collected by William Irving in 1950 from the "Imaigenik" site, near Anaktuvuk Pass (Tulugak Lake shore). The sample was removed from the faunal lot (UA97-109-217), a mixed bag of fractured bones, in 2007. The faunal lot includes bone collected from the surface and subsurface. The submitted sample is likely a subsurface sample from roughly 11 inches below ground surface. The bones were reportedly associated with a subsurface hearth feature. Bone identified at UA Museum as caribou.
