- Comments
- In 2004, NPS recovered several hundred pounds of faunal remains, charcoal and botanical samples, ceramics, antler and bone tools, and lithic artifacts. Little if any of the main locality remains. Excavations in 2004 suggest this "hearth", described as consisting of fire-cracked rock, bone and charcoal, was probably an exposure of the dense and extensive midden deposit that makes up the site rather than an in situ hearth feature. All in situ portions of the site contain a thick layer of bone, charcoal, and fire-cracked rock.
