- from Vinson's 1993 work: "Peat sample; west side Dune Island A; 0.95-1.05 m below surf; tatal weight=78.6 g; sample was split into two samples of 32.9 g amnd 45.7 g and the smaller was submitted for radiocarbon anaysis; this material is the matrix that contained specimen FS#26(A) and 26 (B) listed above." Sample submission sheet notes under evidence of contamination that the bone was penetrated with roots from the modern ground surface. The site consists of a large volume of FCR and faunal remains and some stone tools including lanceolate projectile points, a notched projectile point, microblade cores and microblades, and mitten-shaped burins. More than a dozen radiocarbon dates on bone range from 2530 to 8290 BP. The cultural materials are found largely in a deflated surface context, but intact stratified deposits remain.
