- AhGw-81, H.H.: Cooper and Savage (1994: 41) report that piece plotting and flotation permitted fine examination of 2453 calcined faunal specimens recovered during 1990 excavations. Six classes were identified. Analysis of species and higher taxonomic levels suggests that fishing, probably in autumn/winter/spring, was the primary focus of the faunal subsistence economy. Mammalian and avian hunting was practiced at economically optimum times of the year. The site's strategy is not appreciably different from those of the later Early Ontario Iroquoian settlements in the region.
