- AfGu-2, Bonisteel: A Middleport village is underlain by an earlier, unidentified component. Cooper and Savage (1994: 11) report that salvage work on this estimated 2 ha site was restricted to the area of an eroding bank on Lake Erie. The site may have been occupied year-round, but the faunal evidence only confirms warm-weather occupation. Three artifacts include a modified beaver incisor and two worked mammal bones of uncertain purpose. Fauna: Pisces 91, Acipenser fulvescens 2, Amia calva 1, Coregonus clupeaformis 2, Esox sp 3 Catostomus catostomus 1, Ictalurus sp 29, Ictalurus nebulosis 7, Ictalurus punctatus 5, Lota lota 1, Micropterus sp 2, Ambloplites rupestris 3, Stizostedion 17, Percidae 1, Perciformes 2, Aplodinotus grunniens 9; Mollusca, Unionidae 1, unidentified 13; cultigen: Zea mays 598, Helianthus annuus 3; Flora: Carya sp 219, Juglans nigra 9, Prunus virginiana 3, Vitis sp 1, Fraxinus nigra 0.76 g, Acer saccharum 0.43, Quercus sp 0.35
