- DeSf-9, Nitinat Lake: This site is a large multiterraced settlement which corresponds to former Dididaht winter village "Wikpalhuus": Waterlogged deposits: Although c14 samples were taken from strata spanning over 2m, they are all relatively contemporaneous, indicating midden accumulated very rapidly. Late date for basketry may indicate two descrete episodes of occupation at site. All samples were taken from 1x1m excavation units from the flat terraces at the front of the site. Eight pairs of radiocarbon dates, each consisting of a marine shell sample and a charcoal or plant sample, were analyzed to study the local marine reservoir effect.
