Comments
DeRv-15, Bird's Eye Cove Shelter: A rock shelter, 13 x 5 m, open at the north and south ends. The stratigraphy is unclear, with ash lenses and larger shell midden layers difficult to trace from one pit to the next. The dates are older than expected, but the material recovered could range from 300 BC to historic contact. The oldest dates (S-875, S-877) are from the shell midden, 0.5 m depth, and the youngest dates (S-876, S-878) are from immediately above complex deposits of soil and ash with less shell. The dates are consistent with the stratigraphy and imply the presence of two components of occupation.
