- shallow basin hearth on erosion surface at the base of the loess, square 2S/2W, overlain by 8 cm of loess. From same hearth as sample I-6544. Shallow, basin hearth in the SE Zea mayser of grid 2S/2W. Irregularly oval in plan, 44 x 33 cm in dia., 9 cm deep. Sediments beneath the hearth were oxidized. Contained no artifacts, but burned flakes of chert and chalcedony occurred in the immediate vicinity.
