- hearth, feature 1. Charcoal from Feature 1, a hearth meas. 52 x 55 m in dia., 5 cm deep; filled with several large quartz conglomerate cobbles. Cobbles were heat fractured. No artifacts in fill. Very little charcoal. Cobbles were scattered around the hearth. Area around hearth thought to have been used for a variety of activities: grinding, scraping, initial lithic reduction, heat treatment of raw lithic materials, and final stges of tool manufacture.
