- fire feature 3, a grease rendering pit. Fire Feature 3 with 7 SS slabs placed 3 cm above the base of the fill and a partially excavated adjacent area that appears to have been a bone-working location. Base of feature was 2.39 cm bmgs. Meas. 36 x 30 cm in dia., 17 cm deep. Located in a side drainage. Fill had abundant charcoal and bone frags; 1 bone tool. Similar to features that have been called boiling pits for bond grease rendering.
