- FlDh-1, Sandgirt Lake Lodge: This is a small temporary camp, probably used at various times of the year, at the intersection of several major prehistoric canoe routes through central Labrador. Population probably prehistoric Montagnais-Naskapi. The lithic assemblage falls loosely into the Shield Archaic. MacLeod accepts GaK-2344, the first date from a site in the Labrador interior, although lithic similarities almost certainly place at least two sites in this region within the same range. This can be considered the "type site" for the area on the basis of its artifacts. Resemblances to Wright's Shield Archaic and Fitzhugh's North West River assemblages are generic rather than specific. Material may nonetheless pertain to prehistoric Montagnais - Naskapi. Location of finds at water's edge and high percentage of caribou bone (almost 100%) suggest use during summer and fall, at least for this part of the site.
