- Surface context near a Thule/Late Prehistoric Inupiat (t-stem point) artifact scatter.
- Comments
- Site lies within a deflated area of dune deposits. Artifacts on surface include fire cracked rock and 'moderate' quantites of black chert waste flakes. Formal artifacts include a stemmed projectile point (late prehistoric t-stem) and some scrapers. Bone was collected from the site (FS-9) by Birkedal and reported as bison by Stephenson et al. (2001:135). DNA from the bone was later sequenced and determined to be moose (Rasic and Matheus 2007).
