- AMS date on Homo sapiens collagenFeature 28, human burial in Area CThe carbon isotope value falls within the range of burials along the GSL wetlands between AD 1150-1450, according to Coltrain. Subsistence focused primarily on wild resources; nitrogen isotope ratio of N = +12.4 possibly indicates animal protein focused on herbivores instead of small mammals, birds, and fish, suggesting main settlements were in the uplands with forays into wetlands on a seasonal basis (my interpretation, although that's pretty much what Coltrain says). Discovered during excavation of Level 3 (216E 237N) when the top of the cranium was exposed at 482 cmbd. Tightly flexed with the head oriented to the NE, on right side. No burial pit was identified. Skeleton in excellent condition, nearly complete. No grave goods or assoc. artifacts were recovered.Male between the age of 20-24 years old, 5'1 to 5'3
