- Shelter 1, Feature 5, Stratum IB. This is the earliest C14 date from the site and was in the lowest depositional unit in Shelter 1. It was a shallow pit exavated into clay deposits, meas. 45 cm in dia., 27 cm deep. Fill was ashy silt and charcoal, with relatively abundant Cheno-Am pollen, plus Artemisia and Gramineae pollen. A very small number of charred seeds were found: juniper, Chenopodium, rice grass.
