- BgDr-11, Teacher's Cove: This site extends along the beach for about 100 m and inland for 65 m, and its extent has been reduced by coastal subsidence and erosion. The older of two components is characterized by a distinctive projectile point and an economy that did not include shellfish exploitation. The younger component also had a distinctive point style, along with pottery, semi-subterranean houses and shellfish exploitation. S-608 should date one of the latest house pits in the area. S-609 should provide the lower limit for housepit 1 and post-abandonment for housepit 5. Sanger finds that the two dates agree with site stratigraphy and provide good chronologic controls for the associated grouping of artifacts as well as main house feature. S-609 is somewhat younger than expected. R. Morlan notes that normalizing S-609 to -25 parts per mil makes it 410 years older, but a marine correction is needed. The faunal remains are presumed to be associated mainly with the younger of the two dates.
