- Comments
- BgDr-5, Carson: Wilmeth (1978) reported two components for this site: Component 1, uppermost, a ceramic component within the shell midden; and Component 2, a scanty preceramic assemblage below the midden. Sanger's final report reverses this numbering and adds a third assemblage: Assemblage 1 is a Late Archaic (preceramic) manifestation represented by three projectile points; Assemblage 2 is the main occupation of the site within the shell midden; and Assemblage 3 is an early Contact period, ca. A.D. 1600, Indian occupation. The radiocarbon dates and faunal remains belong to Assemblage 2, estimated at 1200-800 BP. S-2186 was a small sample requiring dilution. It may pertain to Assemblage 3 that left little in the way of diagnostic evidence except for some beads and iron objects.
