Comments
BgDq-6, Weir: Black (p.c. 1997) notes that Beta-70009 was taken from a low area where little peat covered the prehistoric midden and where the site was inundated during extreme high water events. The dated charcoal probably results from historic burning and may have been mixed into the site deposits by tidal action. Beta-70011 and Beta-78151 were collected to date the onset of peat formation which apparently occurred prior to the Woodland occupations of the Weir site.
