- Comments
- DjOm-17, South Battle Creek: The site is on the loess-covered rim of the Cypress Plateau. The loess deposit is about 50 cm thick, and judging from projectile point typology occupation may have begun around 8000 BP. The hearth sampled by GaK-1269 is covered by a thin deposit of loess which is widespread in the Cypress Hills, and the date gives the maximum age of this unit as well as the age of the associated Plains side-notched points, choppers, and scrapers. Bonnichsen finds the date acceptable.
