- Comments
- QeJu-1, Resolute M-1: The main component consists of 14 winter houses relating to early classic Thule culture. A small component located behind the main site may relate to an initial Thule occupation of the region. Beta-146775 and Beta-146776 support the hypothesis of a 13th or 14th century AD date for the initial movement of Inuit into Arctic Canada. Two bone samples, believed to be caribou limb bone fragments when submitted for dating, produced older ages and higher C-13 ratios, suggesting that both were derived from sea mammals (perhaps polar bear). A correction for the local marine reservoir effect, if it were known, might bring these two dates into agreement with the others.
